Marigold First Dream 2026 3/1/2026
A big one kick off the year. Looking forward to Yuzuki vs Koshino for the UN title and Hayashishita vs GoChika. Aono vs Sakurai
on the main I think could surprise me... Unfortunately Yuuki Minami is out with ACL injury for an indefinite amount of time... This
would be a good time to re-check if she's really passionate about puroresu, she's already 27, not particularly athletically gifted
or an in ring natural, and she just suffered an ACL injury that will probably sideline her for about a year... Is pro wrestling worth it
for her? We'll have to see...
- Seri Yamaoka, Shinno & CoCo vs. Kizuna Tanaka & Komomo Minami & Yuuka Yamazaki Holy shit that new gear for Yamaoka is so cool!!
The face jewellery was such a cool touch. It's a bit crazy to think that Tanaka and Yuzuki are generational classmates, they are leagues
apart. Yamaoka is built as the rookie final boss, however it seems that Yamazaki usually gives her problems. Nice gutwrench suplex from Yamaoka,
her spears were stiff and nasty too. This match felt a bit rushed, it would have been better served if they slowed it down a little.
- Kouki Amarei, Natsumi Showzuki & Hummingbird vs. Nao Ishikawa, Nagisa Tachibana & Momoka Hanazono Weird to see Tachibana here and not
with the rookies. Kouki and Natsumi return match!! Natsumi's new colorscheme suits her much better. As soon as she hit that double knee strike,
I realized how good it wasrto have her back. Kouki didn't have a new look unfortunately, but her big boot looked great and she seemed really
emotional after the match. Hopefully she takes puroresu a bit more seriously from now on and hopefully she also stays injury-free. That Amethyst
Butterfly on Tachi looked brutal, but not as brutal as that one on Yuuki Minami. Hanazono bollocks were welcome, but her childishness gives me the creeps.
- Megaton vs. Popular Guy K It's Kuroshio Tokyo Japan!! It's the Uptown-Marigold card tonight it seems. Kuroshio's
gimmick of taking an absurd amount of time to make his entrance and then having no sportsmanship by going for the earliest possible
victory by any means necessary fit this match perfectly, it was the main plot point. This man only wants to hot dog and grandstand, he
hates having to endure any kind of pain or overcome any difficulty! On the other hand, Megaton takes her very limited in ring
ability very seriously, leading to lots of groundhog day shenanigans! This match was really funny, I wouldn't mind if it was
longer.
- Utami Hayashishita vs. Chika Goto Hayashishita loves to sell, she wishes she got the John Cena booking every match.
Big lariat from GoChika!! She did give up the opportunity for an early win by countout after the two big swings on the outside.
This was pretty fun! GoChika finally shows she can have a good midcard match and her hip attacks are becoming stiffer. Hayashishita
doing her usual power moves to win despite GoChika's bulked up frame, then constantly flexing in her post match celebration was funny.
Prefect use of both talents in my opinion, GoChika the rising star that connects to the crowd but needing something or someone to help her
elevate her in-ring ability and Hayashishita the star that hates the pressure of headlining, just having dropped the title, coming down the card
to face the hot new thing. I think this is just the right amount of bulk for GoChika, but what do I know, I'm not her.
- Darkness Summit: Misa Matsui & CHIAKI vs. Rea Seto & Nagisa Nozaki for the Marigold Twin Star titles Ridiculous
armor entrance costume for CHIAKI! Very cool evil costume for Rea! I was actually surprised by how good this was, this was my favorite
match of the night. Nozaki showed just a little glimpse of what she's capable of and damn she's good when she puts her working boots on. I've gotten
used to seeing her conserving her energy and taking it easy. Rea Seto also did way better than I expected. You know someone is on a good
day when they throw forearms with such ferocity. Her dropkicks went straight for the head and she also did the cattle mutilation headstand
just fine, after some course-correction. CHIAKI and Matsui absolutely demolished her with that double claw/chokeslam. They played to everyone's strengths and it made
this match come out great! I really want to see Rea get better and be featured more.
- Victoria Yuzuki vs. SYOKO Koshino for the Marigold United National title It felt as if Yuzuki wanted to prove she's
worth the UN belt. The way she didn't shake Koshino's hand at the start, her cocky demeanour... Almost as if she felt the pressure of the
UN belt. I have mixed feelings about this,
on the one hand Yuzuki is slowly turning into an amazing worker, her swagger and stiff strikes in this match were absolutely
amazing... However the start and the finish of the match were very sloppy, and as for the finish, that's probably Yuzuki's fault...
Well, in F1 Toto Wolff once said "I'd rather have a fast, unreliable car rather than a slow car that never breaks down." (or something along those
lines) and there is some truth behind that sentiment... Koshino was fine, I was a bit disappointed by her
big lariats. Once she eventually hit the powerbomb it looked great. She was great at taking Yuzuki's stiff shots though.
A good match, but Yuzuki vs. Sakurai I thought was better and I felt like even Yuzuki thought she could've done better because once the match
ended she barely smiled or celebrated and headed straight to the back. (did they go long?) Yuzuki will be a beast with that confidence
and attitude if she can become a bit more consistent. Her new hair is awesome too.
- Mayu Iwatani vs. Takumi Iroha for the GHC Women's title I always have the same reaction in main event matches that call back
to the King's Road style like this one. They absolutely bore me to death because I'm not that emotionally invested in the
main event chatacters until they pull out some crazy shit in the 20-minute mark and win me back over. In this match, the negotiation
over the avalanche moves was that moment, it was a simple concept executed so creatively and smoothly, exactly what sets apart world-class
competitors like Iwatani from the rest of the pack. She also did an awesome crucifix bomb. They did recover pretty nicely from some minor
botches they had, making mistakes is human and a good recovery will always get bonus points from me. Iroha is no Iyo Sky, but she's
pretty good here nonetheless. Iwatani's moonsaults were insane. The finishing stretch was generally great and the crowd ate it up too.
I just wish I either had more faith in the ability of top level wrestlers to deliver after watching NOAH for a long time,
or simply that they would get to the good stuff a bit sooner, SenJo style. Iroha looks great in her new red attire, I prefer it over the silver one.
- Miku Aono vs. Mai Sakurai for the Marigold World Title Yeah it was gonna be hard to follow up the previous match. This one is definitely a step down,
these two in turn are no Iwatani and Iroha... it's not a bad match, once again the finish is pretty heated, but it didn't have to be 26 minutes or whatever this was.
Sakurai is good, but she's not at that level yet and while Aono can work on the main event style matches, she isn't on the Iwatani level where she could
wrestle a broomstick to an entertaining match. For the most part it felt as if they didn't have too much chemistry if it weren't for the finishing stretch.
Awkward table spot that looking back went much better than was anticipated, it turned into a pretty sick spot. Avalanche Styles Clash to spike Glorious Driver
finish was a satisfying end to the night. Aono looks good in her new red and golden costume. Decent main event, but honestly it was the bare minimum.
I feel like I've seen stronger shows than this one from Marigold. Darkness Summit, Iwatani vs. Iroha and Megaton vs. Kuroshio were my favorites and there were
strong moments in other matches as well... The card was good on paper but I think it didn't turn out as good as it could have. I was a bit disappointed
with Yuzuki vs. Syoko, it could have been such a banger, but inconsistency spoiled it for me. Still not bad though, just a bit
underwhelming. Damn I had a lot to say about this show...
